
In-Person Learner Reminder Announcement: To help reduce the number of students congregating in one place, we have three entry points and multiple exit points for the building. 9th-10th graders enter through the library doors. 11th-12th graders enter through the Ag shop doors. Bus riders enter through the doors near the old gym. Hand sanitizer stations are located near each entry. Thank you all for helping to keep our COVID numbers down.

SHS Mental Health Resources: COVID-19 can affect adolescents in different ways. Beyond getting sick, many adolescents’ social, emotional and mental well-being has been impacted by the pandemic. With this being said, the Board of Education approved to waive all athletic and gate fees for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year at Wednesday night’s Board meeting. This will go into effect immediately. If you already paid your child's athletic fees you will be reimbursed.

The 2021-2022 school calendar was approved for next school year. I know many families like to plan ahead so we wanted to inform you the 21-22 school calendar is located on our school website, or you can find it here by clicking on this link: https://5il.co/pr4n The school calendar was built on a normal school year as we are hoping to get back to normalcy by August 2021. Please know that if the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health COVID-19 guidelines are still in place by the start of next school year small modifications may need to be made to the calendar.

Students planning to attend L&C in the 2021-2022 academic year have until March 1st to apply for scholarships. To apply, students must have their Blazernet ID and password. At www.lc.edu/scholarships, click on “Apply Now.”


The early bird registration with LCCC will be done virtually. The dates for SHS students are April 13th and April 15th from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. The registration page is open and available for students at www.lc.edu/earlybird/.

The 2020 National Youth Tobacco Survey reported that 20% of high school students use vapes. SHS has approximately 400 students. Research tells us that the more we talk with our youth about at-risk behavior, the less likely they are to participate in those risky behaviors.
