We are seeing an uptick in student absences compared to last year at this same time. While we do not encourage your child to come to school sick, we do encourage them to be in attendance. The State of Illinois allows 10 excused absences per school year. Anything beyond that can result in truancy referrals.
When students aren't in the building, they miss information, assignments, and assessments. We have noticed that many of those students who are absent frequently have lower grades and academic performance.

Last night during our home Volleyball game against Gillespie, our student section behaved in a reprehensible manner. This behavior is not acceptable or condoned by high school administration and will not be tolerated. On behalf of the Staunton School District the high school administration apologizes to Gillespie and those who were in attendance.

The Board of Education was excited to celebrate and recognize the High School Golf Team on a successful season, the Jr. High Baseball Team on their 3rd Place State Title, and Little Italy's Pizza for earning a Building Up Bulldogs Award at the October meeting! Congratulations to these student athletes on their hard work and determination. And, THANK YOU to Little Italy's for being a great community partner with Staunton Schools!
