It is with a heavy heart that we inform all of you that Dr. John Griffith, the Principal of Staunton Jr. High School, passed away on Thursday night. This unexpected tragedy brings a flood of emotions for everyone, including staff and students. The School District will have mental health professionals on site Monday morning available to speak with any student or staff member who wishes to seek counseling.
Our mission remains to provide a continuation of educational services, while recognizing the social emotional needs of our students and staff during this difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the administrative team should you need assistance, support, or guidance.
Although John’s tenure with Staunton Schools was very brief, he left a positive impact on both the students and the community. His loss is a devastating event for his family, the school district and the Staunton community. Our thoughts and concerns go out to his family during this difficult time.
