2025-2026 School Year & Registration Information

Staunton Schools will begin the 2025-2026 school year with a workshop for teachers on Monday, August 4th and Tuesday, August 5th.  On Wednesday, August 6th, all students will be in attendance from 8:10 AM – 3:05 PM for the first day of school.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Returning Staunton students must complete the registration process online using Skyward Family Access, including free/reduced meal application and payment of fees. Please go to https://www.stauntonschools.org/page/registration-documents for more information. Online Registration is open as of Tuesday, July 8th, 2025.  If you need any assistance with Skyward (username/password, etc.), please email helpdesk@stauntonschools.org.

New Student Registration must occur in person at either the Elementary/Jr. High Office or the High School Office beginning Wednesday, July 16th. All NEW students must register in person between the hours of 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM to prove residency and complete the registration process. *In addition, all NEW students must have a copy of his/her birth certificate upon registration.

Any new student enrolling at SCUSD #6 must prove residency with the following documentation:

Category I (One document required)

  • Most recent property tax bill and proof of payment

  • Mortgage papers (homeowners)

  • Signed and dated lease and proof of last month’s payment (renters)

  • Letter from manager and proof of last month’s payment (trailer park resident)

  • Housing letter (Military personnel)

  • *Letter of residence from landlord in lieu of lease MUST BE NOTARIZED

  • *Letter of residence to be used when the person seeking to enroll a student is living with a District resident MUST BE NOTARIZED

Category II (Three documents required)

  • Driver’s license or state ID

  • Vehicle registration

  • Voter’s registration

  • Most recent cable television OR credit card bill

  • Current public aid card

  • Current homeowners/renters insurance policy and premium payment receipt

  • Most recent gas OR electric OR water bill

  • Current library card

  • Receipt for moving van rental

  • Mail received at new residence

BUS INFORMATION:

As you complete registration for the 2025-2026 school year, all bus eligible riders, will need to complete the following Google Form: https://bit.ly/StauntonBus

In order for your child to receive transportation services, he/she must have a home address that is 1.5 miles from the school. In addition, if your home address is east of the railroad tracks on the east side of Staunton, your address is considered bus eligible.

Please note that the Staunton School District will NOT be transporting students to or from non-home addresses that do not meet the above requirements.

If you are a new student to the district or have moved to a new address, you must provide proof of residency to the appropriate school office.

If you have any questions please call the Transportation Department at 618-635-2962 Option 7. In addition, the Transportation Department will have open office hours July 15th - July 17th from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Staff will be available at the school district bus garage located in the high school parking lot to answer questions or provide assistance in completing the registration form.

It is mandatory that any student receiving transportation services, complete this Google Form. Transportation Department staff will reach out to families after registration closes and routes have been finalized if any changes occur.

HEALTH EXAMINATION / PROOF OF IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION:

All students who participate in athletics are required to have a health examination and physical completed on this FORM, and it must be filed in the office prior to participating in an organized school practice.

Illinois School code requires that proof of a health examination and proof of immunization against preventable communicable disease are required upon entry into any school.  Click HERE to access the minimum immunization requirements for children enrolling or entering a school in Illinois for the 2025-2026 school year. 

  • If a child does not present proof of a health examination and immunizations by October 15th of a year in which such proof is required, the school board is required to exclude the child from school.

For your child to have medication administered to him or her at school, please complete and submit this FORM to the health office.
