8th Annual 5K Challenge
Friday, March 22nd- Race Start 1:30 @ Staunton H.S.
Grades 5th-8th, Plus-1’s, Bunker Hill M.S., & Zion Lutheran

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with great pleasure we announce that this year’s 5K Challenge will be on Friday,
March 22nd @ 1:30. Similar to years past, students are allowed to have a Plus-1 join us
on race day, and/or two if the participants are the parents or guardians of the child.
New this year, we will have other schools joining our event. We are excited to
announce that Bunker Hill M.S., and Zion Lutheran School of Staunton will be joining us
with their participants.

Students will be training diligently over the next 2 1⁄2 months in preparation to cross that
finish line on race day. We encourage parents & guardians to discuss with their
children the importance of establishing healthy habits at an early age to assure a
lifetime of fitness and health. We also would like to remind parents and guardians
interested in joining us to enlist as a Plus-1 for their child, and to look for upcoming
opportunities to join us in workouts leading up to race day. Please help to see that your
child has the proper clothing for both indoor and outdoor workouts. Generally speaking,
when the wind chill factor or feels like temperature is above 32 degrees we will be
outside training, otherwise we will be completing circuit training indoors.

Below is the link to enlist both your child and yourself if you choose to be
in our event. Students, as well as Plus-1 participants must have an online waiver of
liability completed to participate. Participants from guest schools will need to submit a
hard-copy waiver of liability.  Students completing the training are entitled to a custom race t-shirt, official chip timing bib, complimentary breakfast on race morning, as well as the pride and joy of a job well done.  We look forward to seeing you at this year’s race!
