2012-2013 School Year
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to Staunton High School for the 2012-2013 school year. I am humbled and feel privileged to be principal at SHS. My summer has been exciting as I have transitioned to the position by familiarizing myself with important policies and procedures. Moreover, I have enjoyed meeting and learning from members of our school community.
The registration process afforded me the opportunity to meet numerous students and parents. In addition, I have met with student council members, faculty, and staff. Based on the enthusiasm I have observed, I am convinced we will have a great school year at SHS!
The mission of Staunton Community Unit School District #6 is to provide a superior learning environment for all students so that they may acquire the knowledge, skills, and character to be productive members of society. Our faculty will provide students with challenging academic opportunities based on students’ needs, as well as a standards-based curriculum. Our comprehensive curriculum includes college preparatory classes, vocational offerings, and elective courses. I encourage students to challenge themselves with a rigorous schedule as they prepare for their future after SHS.
While it is imperative that students are challenged academically, I also believe students should grow socially at SHS. I encourage students to get involved at SHS! We have a diverse offering of extra-curricular clubs, teams, and organizations that will engage students in the school community and provide life-long learning experiences.
In closing, it is my hope that each individual student will take ownership of his or her future. This can be done by making a great effort in and out of the classroom. A positive work ethic is definitely necessary for success. Lastly, feel free to contact me at 618-635-3838 or dsnider@stauntonschools.org if I can be of assistance. Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
David G. Snider
