Staunton High School Families,

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!  I hope that everyone had an enjoyable winter break and found time to re-energize and spend time with family and friends.

As we begin the new semester, please remember that all students will be assigned to an 8th Period Guided Study for the month of January.  The early release program will begin for students who meet the criteria on Monday, February 4th, 2019.

Schedule changes are allowed for the first 5 days of the semester.  Students must complete the Schedule Change Request Form and have a parent signature before turning the form into the school counselor, Mrs. Cress.  Additionally, students will begin the process of picking out classes for next school year this month.  Please be on the lookout for more information from the school counselor on this process.

SHS will continue to recognize students who earn perfect attendance each month and hand out prizes to those students who are chosen in the attendance drawing!  Attending school on a regular basis is a key factor in students being successful in their classes, so please ensure your child is in attendance every day. If your student is not in attendance, you must call the office and provide a valid reason in order for the absence to be excused.  If your child misses more than 5 days in a semester, then you must provide a doctor's excuse for the absences.

Your child’s education is very important to our staff and I promise you that we will work tirelessly to embody our district’s mission of Expecting Everyone’s Best - Lead, Challenge, Achieve!  Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can ever be of assistance and I wish all of you a happy and healthy 2019!
